Barker Contracting is an award-winning, Tucson-based company founded in 2004. BCI follows the principle of creating long-term business relationships with a diverse clientele base. We employ a group of professionals that offer years of management experience in virtually all areas of commercial construction, including community/municipal, education, industrial/manufacturing, medical, office, restaurant, retail and solar projects.
We are committed to value engineering at the front end of the project, in order to meet our clients’ needs from preconstruction through project build and final occupancy. We are a leader in providing both design and construction services under one contract. This approach offers many advantages over traditional project delivery methods: design and construction alternatives and costs are addressed as the design progresses; unanticipated costs and delays are eliminated; and construction can be started prior to the completion of design, allowing for accelerated delivery.

MEET OUR TEAM
Known for his straight talk and participative leadership style, Brian has been a key part of the construction community for over 35 years. A strong believer in integrated project delivery, Brian mentors and encourages every member of the Barker team to focus on collaboration to optimize project results and maximize efficiency. He is a strong supporter of organizations like ABA that promote and improve the industry, as well as organizations that work to improve the health and welfare of the region.
Over the 25+ years he has been working in construction, Brian’s calm, professional and dedicated nature has translated into quality results his clients appreciate. He meets and often exceeds project needs, including frequently demanding standards in quality, specifications and budget adherence. He has completed numerous projects with fast-track schedules. Brian’s experience is commercial and varied, including medical, industrial, manufacturing and retail facilities.
Riley packs a large amount of experience into 19+ years in the construction industry. He is known for his ability to meet aggressive schedules while staying on budget and going above and beyond to meet client expectations. He is collaborative and cost-conscious, performing extremely well in challenging environments. He studied construction management at Brigham Young University for two years, then graduated with honors from the University of Washington, earning a bachelor’s degree in urban development. Riley has successfully delivered high-profile, high-stake projects for both government and commercial clients.
Tyler earned his seat as a project manager after working his way up from a laborer to one of our top superintendents. Having completed some of our largest projects as a superintendent, he has gained experience that makes him adept at developing realistic schedules and maintaining budget control, while his responsiveness to clients makes him a favorite partner. Tyler has a holistic and practical project management approach. At the onset of any project, Tyler prioritizes getting to know and understand his client’s goals so that he can resolve issues and take care of challenges that arise efficiently, and to their satisfaction.
Beginning his construction career as a laborer, Kevin has acquired experience with every trade. His rise to the role of project manager is the result of his persistence and determination in overcoming construction challenges and obstacles. Working in multiple cities and environments has also provided him with experience in dealing with all types of situations- including those that are weather-related or the result of differing economic factors such as labor costs and government regulations. Kevin places a high value on maintaining good relationships with his clients and subcontractors.
Peter has been working in the construction industry for over 20 years, 16 of which he was working as a Journeyman electrician and foreman. He began working in project management as a project engineer, leading to the earned title of project manager. His time was spent on various projects within the commercial, industrial and healthcare industries. Peter’s experience in the field has given him a well-rounded prospective and understanding of project management.
Assistant Project Manager
Brian is an accomplished project manager, offering 15 years of experience in all aspects of commercial construction. His focus on communication and collaboration with the entire project team promotes successful project outcome. Brian’s work history includes construction management of projects that range from big-box retail stores, to theaters, carwashes, storage facilities, clinics and multi-family builds and tenant improvements; as well as a strong mechanical background comprised of HVAC design, installation and service for commercial and residential projects.
Starting out as an electrical apprentice over 30 years ago, Rodney worked his way into construction management. His foundation of knowledge stemming from the electrical industry, brings an additional value to Rodney’s well-rounded experience in all types of residential and commercial construction. His outstanding coordination and communication skills produce successful projects and promote lasting relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Assistant Project Manager
Glen’s passion for construction began as a teenager, working as a laborer. After high school he spent 6 years in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Specialist, 2nd Class Diver and Rescue Swimmer during the Persian Gulf War, where he gained a strong foundation of teamwork and leadership skills. Since then Glen has continued to build his construction resume, reflecting nearly 40 years of collective construction experience between residential, commercial and national retail big-box store projects.
With over 15 years of Project Management experience in multiple sectors, Jon brings a well-rounded approach to the Barker Team. His field experience and diverse background enable him to overcome the toughest challenges a project can present. Jon is passionate about budget adherence, meeting timelines and building long-lasting relationships with his clients; exhibiting professionalism, clear communication and attention to detail on all his projects.
Safety Officer/Assistant Superintendent
Alicia is a motivated self-starter responsible for aiding and supporting the project manager and superintendent on her assigned projects. She is detail-oriented, analytical, flexible, organized, persistent and productive. Alicia builds strong work relationships by delivering exceptional customer service and demonstrating a strong talent for anticipating the needs of her team. She organizes and controls project elements while maintaining superb communications with everyone associated with her projects. Her ability to thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually challenging environment makes Alicia an important asset to BCI.
Alice has decades of experience in enhancing business practices and communications on behalf of the A/E/C industry. A Tucson native, she brings long-standing relationships and a solid understanding of our community to every effort she pursues. As a former president and current board member of the Metropolitan Pima Alliance, Alice offers insight and knowledge of the real estate development community, enabling her to bring diverse interests together to find common ground solutions. Alice is equally at ease working with all sectors of the public, whether government staff, developers, businesses or neighborhoods. She is a dynamic speaker who has presented at regional and national conferences on a variety of subjects, including client relations and project management.
Paul brings 20+ years of diverse construction experience to the team. He is skilled in managing a wide range of projects nationwide- from small commercial tenant improvements, big box store ground-up projects, distribution warehouses, government, medical, industrial and residential/multi-family, to mining projects. Paul holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arizona and is primarily focused on the Life Sciences/Cleanroom industry sector. Moreover, his ability to deliver a positive experience for clients leads to outstanding results by promoting project vision and perpetuating a team-building mentality.
Steve has over 20 years’ experience overseeing all phases of commercial and residential development and construction. His portfolio of successfully completed projects illustrates the extensive experience he has gained over the years. His strong leadership style and excellent technical and communications skills are a large part of Barker Contracting’s success. He is responsible for ensuring field personnel have the resources necessary to complete the highest quality work, while adhering to safety requirements.
