Warehouse and office remodel, included the build of an additional mezzanine inside the warehouse.
This project was a tenant improvement of a 100-year-old, 4-story building in downtown Tucson. Work included cutting in new window and door openings throughout the building. BCI brought the building up to modern-day standards, including the addition of an elevator and new A/C units.
This renovation of a 60-year-old building included loft-style offices, colored concrete and original wood floors. The wood floors were discovered during demolition and Barker Contracting was able to restore the wood for a beautiful finish. Original interior red brick was used for accents.
The C3 Call Center project consisted of a complete renovation of an existing 100,000 square foot industrial space into a new call center. The renovations upgrading the existing electrical service, adding a new diesel backup generator, upgrading the shell building storefront and constructing new restroom cores, training rooms, offices, breakroom cores and a new parking lot. This was a fast track project that involved good communication and coordination among all team players.
Casa de los Niños has expanded their facilities to accommodate the needs of our community. Work on this expansion included site demo and utility relocation to complete an underground parking garage and two stories of office space above, interconnecting this addition with the entire campus. Construction consisted of masonry, concrete, steel, metals studs, fiber cement panels and stucco.
Tenant improvement and conversion of open floor space to new offices, conference and training rooms; including new break rooms and restrooms. Work was performed within an occupied and operational building.
Three-building complex completely renovated and re-purposed to create a collaborative business center of office space for use by our non-profit community. The buildings received new finishes throughout and new utility infrastructures- interconnected by a beautifully landscaped courtyard, inclusive of an outdoor presentation stage.
Remodel of an 85,000 SF building for office, warehouse and manufacturing space for this custom thermoforming tool design company. This project included a 5,000 SF cleanroom, 3,000 SF of office space and 20,000 SF of manufacturing space.
4,000 SF ground-up cannabis dispensary building structure with open sales floor, office space, packaging/labeling rooms, and safe vault for storage. Site work included bringing in new site utilities, storm water management system and a completely lit and secure parking lot.

58,000 SF remodel of an active call center. Work included furniture replacement in open office areas, remodel of common areas such as new conference rooms, huddle rooms and break rooms with decorative finishes that consist of glass store front openings, wood slat ceilings, carpet, dry erase paint, audio/visual systems and acoustical wall panels. All work was performed while the facility remained operational.
BCI was general contractor for construction of a new 40,000 SF, two-story office building. The building includes stone floors at entry and granite counters in the reception area and conference rooms, as well as a large exterior patio, covered parking and landscaped site.
Complete demo of existing building and new build of an 11,900 SF ground-up building, 923 SF interior courtyard and a new parking lot with shade structures for this non-profit organization. The building consists of individual offices, group offices and meeting rooms. The meeting rooms contain a sound masking system for privacy.

Spanning over 16 acres, work for this project included new roadways, upgrades to existing roadways; a 1,600 SF ground-up masonry badging center with an entrance canopy for standard vehicles and an inspection canopy for incoming deliveries; a ground-up, full security booth with bullet resistant glass; a ground-up masonry watch tower and a vehicle net barrier.

The Roche addition to the Ventana Medical Manufacturing and logistics facility we completed years ago, consists of a 60,360 SF instrument manufacturing facility. The new space is to be used for instrument manufacturing and testing and all related support spaces including training rooms, utility rooms, breakroom, locker room and office space. This work includes the installation of air handlers, electrical service and process utilities for the expanded area.
This 65,000 SF research & design facility was a tenant improvement in an existing 104,000 SF building. The project included a clean room, dry room, testing rooms, office area, a new site fence, upgraded entry and a large company break room.

25,000 SF tenant improvement which included a full electrical package with a generator, UPS and ATS.
12,000 SF ground-up facility and new storage yard for Southwest Gas Corp. The facility contains office and warehouse space. The building was constructed with concrete masonry units and steel and sits on a secured 5-acre site, which includes a water truck fill station, aggregate storage bins and pipe storage, as well as a 120’x20’ parking canopy shaded by Photo Voltaics.
Stantec is a national consulting firm for engineering, architecture, environmental, project management and other services. BCI provided renovations to the Tucson location’s fourth floor space of approximately 13,688 SF. The project included demolition work, construction of new interior partitions, ceilings, finishes and related mechanical, electrical and plumbing work.
This project was a carefully coordinated, fast-track project completed in phases so the owner could utilize available space to begin training in order to get the business operational as soon as possible. Work consisted of interior build-out of five training rooms for future employees, a control and monitoring room, new exterior metal shade canopy, handicap ramps, a new generator, UPS, transfer switch and related electrical gear upgrade.
The Texas Instruments project completely renovated two 50,000 SF call center office buildings into new office and lab space, and constructed an expandable 25,000 SF lab building, including 11,000 SF of an ISO 6 clean room. The project consisted of converting existing interior space into private offices and meeting rooms, new storefront windows, complete interior build-out and interconnecting fiber/data conduit between two existing buildings.

This project involved a 60,000 SF ground-up tilt building. Work included new type II, 30’-clear high-bay storage facility with ESFR sprinkler system with storage mezzanine, office, parts assembly, ammonia central chiller plant, and liquid combustible material storage (s-1) components. The interior work included finishes for the office area, compressed air piping and Unistrut rack assembly, as well as electrical power and lighting.
35,000 SF ground-up pre-engineered metal building. This project features office/show room and service bays with a storage mezzanine.

5,600 SF addition of a presentation hall, inclusive of a dance floor, portable risers and locker rooms. School remained in session during construction.
Providing more than a free meal to those in need, the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s Caridad Community Kitchen offers a culinary training program and full catering service that help thousands of people a year. With the growth of these programs, Caridad required more space to serve our community. Steps were taken and funds were raised to expand the kitchen another 5,000 square feet. Barker Contracting and SBBL Architecture were selected as the design team to create a functional space that would tie into the original building, seamlessly. Throughout construction, Caridad and the Community Food Bank continued to serve meals to those in need. With this expansion, Caridad will be able to produce 360,000 MORE meals per year to disburse to homebound seniors and senior centers.

Approximately 9,500 SF 23-bed memory care assisted living facility with commercial kitchen. BCI facilitated and managed the land use rezoning and the coordination of new water main and public utilities to be brought to the site. In addition, a land split was done to turn ten lots into four, 1-acre lots.
The Desert Hills Lutheran Church project remodeled and added approximately 13,000 SF to an operating church. Construction was complicated because the main access points into the church, situated in construction areas, had to be maintained at all times. The remodel and tie-in proved challenging, as the goal was to maintain continuity in design and appearance.

This two-story, 21,000 SF steel framed structure with concrete masonry walls is home to a private school. The building includes a sprinkler system, classrooms, elevator, large catering kitchen, administrative offices and an interior activity room. There is an outdoor patio and a fenced play yard at the rear of the building.
A complete remodel of El Rio’s Northwest Clinic, including both main lobbies, an addition to the building and upgrades to various offices. The addition allowed the client to double the size of the break room and the remodel of both lobbies required demolition of walls to offer a more inviting, open space. All work was performed while the clinic remained fully operational so this non-profit could continue to help those within our community.
A 16,500 SF ground-up youth building that includes classrooms, recreational areas & administration offices. The project includes a large site development package, as well as a new septic system.
This project was a 10,000 SF expansion of the existing Green Valley Las Campanas Recreation Center. Work included a new entry and lobby, three meeting rooms, a game room, new restrooms, a large dividable ballroom and new kitchen. An exterior patio was constructed and the new site parking lot developed to the east and south of the building.

Founded in 1945, the church is adjacent to two historical districts. This project involved an activity center and sanctuary remodel for Tucson’s oldest Evangelical Lutheran church.
A 19,000 SF Student Union building consisting of two auditoriums, one for high school students and one for middle school students. The building itself is a Sprung Structure, a prefabricated building that was assembled on-site. Interior build-out consisted of polished concrete floors, a kitchen, restrooms, large HVAC systems and a second level mezzanine to house administration staff and storage space. The project was unique as it required close coordination with owner contracted vendors for the building shell and high-tech audio video systems.
12,000 SF remodel for an existing sanctuary. The pew seating and sloping floor were demolished and replaced with a stepped floor and aisles, as well as new fixed seating.
Multi-phased addition of epoxy floors throughout the center. Work was done without disrupting daily operations of the facility.
Renovation of the existing first floor lobbies and corridors of the building.
This project was a new build for Santa Cruz Valley Methodist, a new church located in the growing Sahuarita community twenty-five miles southwest of Tucson. Barker Contracting constructed a contemporary 10,200 SF worship center from the ground up.
7,000 SF tenant improvement for a charter school.
This project was a new build for the Sonoran Science Academy, a STEM-focused, college preparatory school serving approximately 850 students and faculty. It involved a new 30,000 SF classroom building, 3,000 SF administration building and 10,000 SF multipurpose building.
Expansion to the existing church, including repair and renovation of an adobe sanctuary built in 1906, the demolition of a classroom building from the 1950’s and the construction of a new 6,000 SF multi-purpose building. Construction took place while the church remained open to the public.
Renovation of first and second floors of an existing clinic located at the Tucson Medical Center Campus. Work included a renovation of the main lobby, offices, patient therapy gyms, treatment rooms, outdoor therapy gym and sensory therapy rooms.

The Tucson College project expanded and renovated approximately 30,000 SF of existing office space into a new vocational college. The project included the complete demolition of all interior elements, removing all exterior storefront, creating 5,000 SF of new interior space and constructing classrooms, training rooms, office space, break rooms and restrooms.
This renovation was for the Tucson location of the University of Phoenix, a nationwide network of colleges offering both campus and online courses. Renovation of three floors, equaling approximately 28,000 SF of space, included demolition and rework of walls, doors, ceilings, lighting, electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
Entertainment
This Beyond Bread project modified an old Blockbuster retail space into a new Beyond Bread Bakery and Restaurant. Modifications included constructing a new enclosed patio seating area, custom-built patio windows, new kitchen, new service and delivery area, new restrooms, specialty lighting, vinyl plank flooring and custom metal fabrications.

The Blanco project was a remodel for a Sam Fox restaurant at La Encantada. The project included shell building modifications and constructing operable roll-up doors to allow for an indoor/outdoor dining experience. Interior modifications included constructing a new kitchen area, complete interior finish package, construction of a new bar, new restroom cores, an innovative lighting package and high-end wood decor.

After a demolition of the El Con Mall, projects ranged from renovation of a former department store to a new ground-up construction designed for restaurants and retail. The project included a drive-through for Panda Express; a 14,000 SF PetSmart, which included an animal clinic; fast-track completion of the 100,000 SF Burlington Coat Factory to meet the spring sales season; and a 13,000 SF Shoe Carnival. Design elements included metal deck roof, patio with planters and concrete seating, and entries with decorative stone and tile column wraps.
Work on this project included the demolition of an existing restaurant building and construction of a new one-story building restaurant with a drive thru, awnings and drive thru trellis. Additional work included re-work of the trash yard and front curb area.
These tenant improvements involved multiple Tucson locations for Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Work varied by location and ranged from demolition and renovation of existing retail space to build-out of new shell buildings. These projects represent an ongoing partnership with this popular gourmet burger chain with locations in the U.S., UK and Canada.

This ground-up 3,893 SF, steel-stud shell building and tenant improvement included partition walls, glazing, doors, frames, electrical power and lighting, HVAC, restrooms, accessories and plumbing.

Remodel and expansion of the dining room and bar, including covered exterior patio seating. Additionally we constructed a new venue patio complete with shade canopies and an outdoor grill/kitchen.
Work for KVOA was completed while the building remained operational. Care was taken during demolition and construction as not to disrupt ongoing live newscasts, which occurred several times per day. This renovation/addition included a total of 14,000 SF. The outdated news room was demolished and replaced with a state-of-the-art news room, including several reporting work stations, monitors, a police-scanning station, a new audio editing room, offices and conference rooms. In addition, the front half of the building was demolished and rebuilt, adding approximately 1,800 SF. This renovation/addition offered a new open concept lobby, Executive Suite and Executive Assistant office, as well as new accounting and sales offices.
Remodel of the upscale country club, ballroom and exterior canopy.
Multiple locations throughout Southern Arizona, remodeling spaces to accommodate a rapid-growing pizza kitchen.
This project consisted of renovating an existing kitchen and expanding it to accommodate a growing club membership. The new kitchen was built in a nearly 100 year old building which required Barker Contracting to maintain the historic look of the kitchen and dining area, while upgrading to a state of the art kitchen. A new electrical service was added, gas service and all new equipment was installed including a self-cleaning type one hood. The kitchen was built on an old wooden sub-floor that had to be removed, new footings were excavated and poured below the existing building and new sub floor was constructed. All this work happened while keeping the kitchen operational which required the set-up of a temporary exterior kitchen that could keep up with the demand.
This project involved new construction of a Tucson location for this award-winning chain known for its signature wings and vibrant atmosphere. Work included a new 5,621 SF, steel-stud shell building and tenant improvement, including demising/partition walls, glazing, doors, frames, electrical power and lighting, HVAC, restrooms, accessories and plumbing.
This project was a new build for a Tucson location of Pei Wei, a popular Asian-inspired restaurant chain. This location involved a new 6,000 SF, ground-up masonry building constructed at Casas Adobes Shopping Center.
This project was a design-build effort to renovate the shopping center while ensuring that the businesses and offices remained open and customer access was maintained. Work included new storefronts, new deck surfaces, an exterior facade upgrade, a civil package of new drive entryways, paved walking areas, new restaurants and water features.

Barker Contracting built all four of the Smashburger locations in Tucson and Oro Valley, representing an ongoing partnership with the franchise. These were all fast-track projects, including complete gutting of the old spaces and new construction in place within 7-8 weeks. New grease traps, HVAC equipment, and other adjustments to the shell buildings were included in these short timeline projects.

This 16,700 SF building had to maintain the rustic character of the existing ranch structures. As the CMAR, our team was tasked with this challenge, causing us to think outside of the box to make this dream a reality– starting with sourcing large timbers from the hills of Colorado. Construction included very large, exposed timbers and wood plank ceilings, a large wooden dance floor, plank exterior siding and a full commercial kitchen. The project also required a new water main to be brought in through rigorous terrain from nearly a mile away, and an 180,000 gallon water tank was also constructed on the site. With tight budget constraints and the construction type, Barker Contracting located and consulted with contractors from the east coast, Texas and Colorado, in order to make this project a success for our client.
This 6,000 SF restaurant tenant improvement for the Celtic-themed sports bar included custom millwork, granite countertops, new HVAC and new kitchen equipment. The Tucson location was completed in 39 days, a record completion time for the Tilted Kilt franchise, which has multiple locations across the U.S.

Complete revamp of the northeast corner of Broadway and Wilmot in Tucson, Arizona. Work included all new utilities, landscape, demolition and replacement of the parking lot. Two shell CMU, ground-up buildings included one 50,000 SF and one 25,0000 SF building. Two shell metal stud buildings, ground-up, one 14,000 SF and another 7,000 SF. Constructed a facade remodel for a 60 year old building and provided tenant improvements for multiple tenants.
The Zinburger project involved remodeling an existing bistro restaurant and completely upgrading and changing the decor for an entirely new experience. Improvements included a complete remodel of the existing space – new flooring, ceilings, built-in seating, outdoor patio and seating-area improvements, restroom upgrades, new soffits, custom finishes and decorative murals.

78,000 SF tenant improvement for a mirror assembly manufacturing plant.
55,000 SF concrete tilt manufacturing facility with 4,000 SF two-story office space.
Warehouse and office remodel, included the build of an additional mezzanine inside the warehouse.
Renovation to an existing warehouse consisted of two new bridge cranes, extension of an existing bridge crane, up-sized existing electrical service, new demising walls, concrete polishing and new lighting and plumbing, throughout. In addition, a canopy was enclosed to create an ISO 7 cleanroom.
A 15,500 SF, ISO 7 cleanroom addition. Work included a wood framed, independent structure within an existing operating warehouse environment with modular partition walls, automatic sliding doors, full electrical upgrade, HEPA fan filtration, ESD epoxy flooring and process plumbing. This room is used for production of medical devices and supplies. Project was completed with a GMP contract, on-time with a ten-week accelerated construction schedule.
45,000 SF renovation of a warehouse, manufacturing and R&D facility, and a 2,000 SF ISO 7 cleanroom/assembly line area.

84,000 SF automated greenhouse and headhouse facility with a state-of-the-art computer environmental system, optimizing climate control and air circulation. The headhouse facility with climate controlled clone room, drying room, X-Ray room and product storage rooms. Additionally, a 12,224 SF lab packaging facility with a C1D2 lab, including extraction booths, a distillation lab and a testing room was built to process product grown in the greenhouses.

This project included construction of a 60,000 SF metal building, major site renovation, and relocation and coordination of all major public utilities for the City of Tucson to sort and process recycling materials. This project relied heavily on Barker Contracting’s strong relationships with the subcontracting community, local municipalities and utilities.

Raytheon Building 845 Hangar D Addition consisted of a new 12,065 SF classified hangar that was built alongside an existing hangar on Tucson International Airport property. The project included a pre-engineered metal building with a 1,710 SF equipment platform, a deluge fire suppression system, fuel grounding and lightening protection. As the CMAR for this project, we obtained all FAA permits and assisted in the design and cost estimating.

32,000 SF ground-up masonry shell building with steel bar joist, metal decking and a TPO roof. This building was designed by BWS Architects for light industrial use. Work included storefront, exterior service doors, plumbing, electrical for tenant sections; switch and metering provision at service entrance for tenant use; lighting protection and three (3) roof-mounted HVAC units.
Ground-up cotton farm facility replacement for the Tohono O’odham Nation included a 28,000 SF pre-manufactured metal office/maintenance facility and a 2,800 SF pre-manufactured Seed Storage building with complete site and well improvements.

The laboratory remodel work included installation of perchloric acid hoods, several air scrubbers and an Argon gas storage and distribution pad.

The Tucson distribution center project for this national electrical supplies and construction materials company was a remodel of existing industrial space. Work included exterior improvements, paving and fencing and a will-call area for product pick up. Interior improvements consisted of warehouse space and added office space.
New 140,000 SF ground-up metal building that is the new home of Tucson based start-up, World View Enterprises, Inc. The building consists of approximately 20,000 SF of open office space and the remainder of the space is designed for light manufacturing of large balloons used to carry payloads and manned capsules to the edge of the earth’s atmosphere for both private entertainment and public and private research voyages. The building sits on 28-acres that shares the use of a new 700’ diameter concrete pad to conduct balloon launches.
20,000 SF renovation to an existing tilt panel building for a custom optics manufacturer. Work included a 2,500 SF ISO 7 cleanroom, as well as other controlled environment spaces for production and R&D of precision optics components.

Life Science / Healthcare
This project consisted of a complete renovation of a 6,347 SF building to accommodate a new blood donation center and was completed on time in July of 2021. BCI’s performance on this project enabled them to be invited to bid projects on a National Level for the American Red Cross.
A 3,300 SF tenant improvement for a dermatology and aesthetics medical clinic facility with MOHS micrographic surgical procedure room, exam rooms, laboratory, and office space.
Remodel of an existing clinic included exam rooms, medical assistant work room and administration offices.
11,200 SF single-story ground-up shell building and tenant improvement for a medical office building. The space includes multiple exam and behavioral health rooms, office space, physical therapy, community and reception areas.
Approximately 9,500 SF 23-bed memory care assisted living facility with commercial kitchen. BCI facilitated and managed the land use rezoning and the coordination of new water main and public utilities to be brought to the site. In addition, a land split was done to turn ten lots into four, 1-acre lots.
8,000 SF tenant improvement for a blood transfusion medical clinic. This project incorporated an 800 SF ISO 8 cleanroom.
This series of CSL Plasma projects involve new, state-of-the-art blood plasma collection centers across the United States. Project needs vary by location, but most involve partial demolition and extensive renovations of existing structures, several while working around existing tenants. Work includes new electrical, mechanical and plumbing services, HVAC system, special and low voltage systems, structural modifications, new roofs, walk-in freezers, and extensive millwork. BCI has completed over 100 of these centers across the United States.

4,000 SF ground-up cannabis dispensary building structure with open sales floor, office space, packaging/labeling rooms, and safe vault for storage. Site work included bringing in new site utilities, storm water management system and a completely lit and secure parking lot.
84,000 SF automated greenhouse and headhouse facility with a state-of-the-art computer environmental system, optimizing climate control and air circulation. The headhouse facility with climate controlled clone room, drying room, X-Ray room and product storage rooms. Additionally, a 12,224 SF lab packaging facility with a C1D2 lab, including extraction booths, a distillation lab and a testing room was built to process product grown in the greenhouses.
A complete remodel of El Rio’s Northwest Clinic, including both main lobbies, an addition to the building and upgrades to various offices. The addition allowed the client to double the size of the break room and the remodel of both lobbies required demolition of walls to offer a more inviting, open space. All work was performed while the clinic remained fully operational so this non-profit could continue to help those within our community.
This ophthalmic outpatient surgery facility involved a 6,500 SF addition, including approximately 1,000 SF of administration area. The facility was added to the existing surgery center and needed to exactly match the architectural style. This was a Contract Manager At Risk (CMAR) project with an initial contract value of $1.6 million. The pre-construction period was important in order to monitor the contract value with the design documents.

The Roche addition to the Ventana Medical Manufacturing and logistics facility we completed years ago, consists of a 60,360 SF instrument manufacturing facility. The new space is to be used for instrument manufacturing and testing and all related support spaces including training rooms, utility rooms, breakroom, locker room and office space. This work includes the installation of air handlers, electrical service and process utilities for the expanded area.
Renovation of first and second floors of an existing clinic located at the Tucson Medical Center Campus. Work included a renovation of the main lobby, offices, patient therapy gyms, treatment rooms, outdoor therapy gym and sensory therapy rooms.
This project completely renovated the interior of a two-story building. The work was divided into four separate phases, as the facility remained open during construction. It was important to keep disruptions to a minimum by protecting the patients and employees from the elements of construction. Protective temporary walls were built, proper ventilation techniques were utilized and working hours were adjusted in order to accommodate the client.
A full renovation of a 4,000 SF historic building on the campus of Tucson Medical Center.
In association with J.E. Dunn Construction, this work added upgraded surgery and patient care areas in the four-story Orthopedic and Surgical Tower, as well as a patient and visitor parking deck.
Improvements to the TMC Surgical Services included 14 operating rooms with integrated technology, pediatric surgery area, and cardiac, interventional and cystoscopy rooms. Improvements to the TMC Orthopedic Center included 10 operating rooms, with a new education conference center and meeting room, 40 private patient rooms and acute therapy facilities. This project also widened the hospital loop road, upgraded the campus entryway and constructed Founder’s Park.
This project involved exterior facelift of a 30-year-old building, with equipment upgrades and tenant improvements to a sizable medical facility. The scope of work on this structure included HVAC replacement, interior demolition and exterior façade replacement/renovation.
This Tucson affiliate of Obstetrix Medical Group offers a full range of perinatal health services. The project involved an 8,770 SF conversion of an existing hospital space to an obstetrics clinic. The project included all-new interior walls and finishes, underground plumbing and an exterior entrance/drop-off canopy with new hardscape.
This negotiated contract project constructed a new 2,600 SF clinic at the UMC North Cancer Center. Work was completed on the second floor of the most sensitive area of the functioning hospital, with immune system compromised patients adjacent to the work area.
This project involved a 60,000 SF ground-up tilt building. Work included new type II, 30’-clear high-bay storage facility with ESFR sprinkler system with storage mezzanine, office, parts assembly, ammonia central chiller plant, and liquid combustible material storage (s-1) components. The interior work included finishes for the office area, compressed air piping and Unistrut rack assembly, as well as electrical power and lighting.

Design and construction of 8,100 SF of retail space on the corner of 22nd & Harrison, in Tucson, Arizona. The construction team worked diligently with the architect, the engineers and the subcontractors to provide the most cost effective building system to the owner.
10,000 SF ground-up shell building for retail space and the immediate hardscape and vehicle parking. Work included mechanical, plumbing and electrical service to the building and connections to on-site utilities.

After a demolition of the El Con Mall, projects ranged from renovation of a former department store to a new ground-up construction designed for restaurants and retail. The project included a drive-through for Panda Express; a 14,000 SF PetSmart, which included an animal clinic; fast-track completion of the 100,000 SF Burlington Coat Factory to meet the spring sales season; and a 13,000 SF Shoe Carnival. Design elements included metal deck roof, patio with planters and concrete seating, and entries with decorative stone and tile column wraps.

This RV park expansion, featured on local Tucson television commercials, included an exterior/civil/landscape package that transformed a parking lot into a camping facility. The project included walking paths, native vegetation and a water feature; a sales center modeled after an old Santa Fe town with a mezzanine children’s play area; and renovation of an existing dining room and meeting center, with hanging partition walls to create a multi-use area.

This project was a design-build effort to renovate the shopping center while ensuring that the businesses and offices remained open and customer access was maintained. Work included new storefronts, new deck surfaces, an exterior facade upgrade, a civil package of new drive entryways, paved walking areas, new restaurants and water features.
QuikTrip is a top-rated convenience/gasoline retail operation that focuses on key, high-volume locations across eleven states. Barker Contracting has constructed several QuikTrip stores in Tucson, including locations on Kolb, Grant and Craycroft roads, reflecting a strong relationship with a growing franchise.
This project included façade remodel and demolition of a former retail building, as well as tenant improvements for each of the three national tenants. Remodel work involved shell preparation for three new tenants and new demising partitions, separate electrical, water and gas service and sewer piping, for each. The existing fire riser was modified to provide individual fire sprinkler service and a new fire riser room with exterior access was provided. The interior existing CMU bearing wall toward the front of the space received new openings.

Complete revamp of the northeast corner of Broadway and Wilmot in Tucson, Arizona. Work included all new utilities, landscape, demolition and replacement of the parking lot. Two shell CMU, ground-up buildings included one 50,000 SF and one 25,0000 SF building. Two shell metal stud buildings, ground-up, one 14,000 SF and another 7,000 SF. Constructed a facade remodel for a 60 year old building and provided tenant improvements for multiple tenants.
Solar
This 6.1 MW fixed-array solar power plant for AstroSol was built on 38-acres at the Solar Zone at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park. It consisted of 48,600 thin film solar panels mounted at a 30-degree fixed angle on a Schletter aluminum racking system with driven pile foundations. This plant feeds directly to the Tucson Electric Power grid.
10 MW, single-axis power plant built on 56-acres in Golden Valley, Arizona. This project consisted of 42,000 polycrystalline solar panels mounted on 54 SOLON single axis trackers with concrete footings. This plant feeds the UniSource grid.
This project involved installation of SOLON Corporation’s single- and dual-axis trackers at Tucson Electric Power’s solar test field. It included the alignment and pouring of all foundations and the detailed installation of the trackers. The tracker arrays are designed to hold multiple types of panels manufactured by SOLON at their facility in Tucson.

This project involved a 5MW fixed-array solar power plant built for SOLON on 25-acres at the Solar Zone at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park. It consisted of approximately 21,300 polycrystalline solar panels mounted at a 30-degree fixed angle on a Schletter aluminum racking system with driven pile foundations. This plant feeds directly to the Tucson Electric Power grid.
This project involved design and construction of the 1-megawatt photovoltaic, fixed-tilt array reaching 20 feet over the main hourly/daily public parking lot at the Tucson International Airport Terminal. The structure is a curved, open-lattice design with polycrystalline silicon panels arranged in strips with equal spacing. Vegetated “green walls” with live plants, in addition to the structure itself, create a cooling, microclimate effect in the parking area.

This project involved a 1.6 MW single-axis power plant built for SOLON on 14-acres at the Solar Zone at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park. The project consisted of 5,808 polycrystalline solar panels mounted on 11 SOLON single-axis trackers with concrete footings. This plant feeds the Tucson Electric Power grid.
This project involved construction of a 1-megawatt solar power plant at the Roger Road Sewer Treatment Plant. Work included the grading and compacting of six acres of land, the forming and pouring of the concrete ballast tracker foundations and the erection of the single-access tracker system, the installation of all solar modules, the DC and AC power systems and the construction of the high-voltage interconnect to the local utility.
