5,600 SF addition of a presentation hall, inclusive of a dance floor, portable risers and locker rooms. School remained in session during construction.

Providing more than a free meal to those in need, the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s Caridad Community Kitchen offers a culinary training program and full catering service that help thousands of people a year. With the growth of these programs, Caridad required more space to serve our community. Steps were taken and funds were raised to expand the kitchen another 5,000 square feet. Barker Contracting and SBBL Architecture were selected as the design team to create a functional space that would tie into the original building, seamlessly. Throughout construction, Caridad and the Community Food Bank continued to serve meals to those in need. With this expansion, Caridad will be able to produce 360,000 MORE meals per year to disburse to homebound seniors and senior centers.

Casa de los Niños has expanded their facilities to accommodate the needs of our community. Work on this expansion included site demo and utility relocation to complete an underground parking garage and two stories of office space above, interconnecting this addition with the entire campus. Construction consisted of masonry, concrete, steel, metals studs, fiber cement panels and stucco.

Three-building complex completely renovated and re-purposed to create a collaborative business center of office space for use by our non-profit community. The buildings received new finishes throughout and new utility infrastructures- interconnected by a beautifully landscaped courtyard, inclusive of an outdoor presentation stage.

Approximately 9,500 SF 23-bed memory care assisted living facility with commercial kitchen. BCI facilitated and managed the land use rezoning and the coordination of new water main and public utilities to be brought to the site. In addition, a land split was done to turn ten lots into four, 1-acre lots.

The Desert Hills Lutheran Church project remodeled and added approximately 13,000 SF to an operating church. Construction was complicated because the main access points into the church, situated in construction areas, had to be maintained at all times. The remodel and tie-in proved challenging, as the goal was to maintain continuity in design and appearance.

This two-story, 21,000 SF steel framed structure with concrete masonry walls is home to a private school. The building includes a sprinkler system, classrooms, elevator, large catering kitchen, administrative offices and an interior activity room. There is an outdoor patio and a fenced play yard at the rear of the building.

A complete remodel of El Rio’s Northwest Clinic, including both main lobbies, an addition to the building and upgrades to various offices. The addition allowed the client to double the size of the break room and the remodel of both lobbies required demolition of walls to offer a more inviting, open space. All work was performed while the clinic remained fully operational so this non-profit could continue to help those within our community.

A 16,500 SF ground-up youth building that includes classrooms, recreational areas & administration offices. The project includes a large site development package, as well as a new septic system.

This project was a 10,000 SF expansion of the existing Green Valley Las Campanas Recreation Center. Work included a new entry and lobby, three meeting rooms, a game room, new restrooms, a large dividable ballroom and new kitchen. An exterior patio was constructed and the new site parking lot developed to the east and south of the building.

7,000 SF tenant improvement included renovation of offices, exam rooms and training rooms. Work was completed while the facility remained open for business.

Complete demo of existing building and new build of an 11,900 SF ground-up building, 923 SF interior courtyard and a new parking lot with shade structures for this non-profit organization. The building consists of individual offices, group offices and meeting rooms. The meeting rooms contain a sound masking system for privacy.

Founded in 1945, the church is adjacent to two historical districts. This project involved an activity center and sanctuary remodel for Tucson’s oldest Evangelical Lutheran church.

A 19,000 SF Student Union building consisting of two auditoriums, one for high school students and one for middle school students. The building itself is a Sprung Structure, a prefabricated building that was assembled on-site. Interior build-out consisted of polished concrete floors, a kitchen, restrooms, large HVAC systems and a second level mezzanine to house administration staff and storage space. The project was unique as it required close coordination with owner contracted vendors for the building shell and high-tech audio video systems.

12,000 SF remodel for an existing sanctuary. The pew seating and sloping floor were demolished and replaced with a stepped floor and aisles, as well as new fixed seating.

Multi-phased addition of epoxy floors throughout the center. Work was done without disrupting daily operations of the facility.

Renovation of the existing first floor lobbies and corridors of the building.

This project was a new build for Santa Cruz Valley Methodist, a new church located in the growing Sahuarita community twenty-five miles southwest of Tucson. Barker Contracting constructed a contemporary 10,200 SF worship center from the ground up.

7,000 SF tenant improvement for a charter school.

This project was a new build for the Sonoran Science Academy, a STEM-focused, college preparatory school serving approximately 850 students and faculty. It involved a new 30,000 SF classroom building, 3,000 SF administration building and 10,000 SF multipurpose building.

Expansion to the existing church, including repair and renovation of an adobe sanctuary built in 1906, the demolition of a classroom building from the 1950’s and the construction of a new 6,000 SF multi-purpose building. Construction took place while the church remained open to the public.

The Tucson College project expanded and renovated approximately 30,000 SF of existing office space into a new vocational college. The project included the complete demolition of all interior elements, removing all exterior storefront, creating 5,000 SF of new interior space and constructing classrooms, training rooms, office space, break rooms and restrooms.

This renovation was for the Tucson location of the University of Phoenix, a nationwide network of colleges offering both campus and online courses. Renovation of three floors, equaling approximately 28,000 SF of space, included demolition and rework of walls, doors, ceilings, lighting, electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
